Eos Skill School – a new concept for skill development for children in Grade 3
Eos Skill School is a new model that gives children the opportunity to develop skills through organized activities directly after school. During the autumn semester of 2026, IK Eos will run a pilot programme for 30 children in Grade 3, in collaboration with Nordic Wellness S Lars Sportcenter. Every Tuesday and Thursday, the children will be picked up from their schools and take part in a structured afternoon programme from 2–5 PM, including two activity blocks and a snack break, led by activity leaders from Eos.
Target group: Children in Grade 3 (generally born in 2017).
Number of places: 30.
When: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2–5 PM, every week from 1 September to 17 December.
Where: S:t Lars Sportcenter, St Lars väg 92, 222 70 Lund.
Transportation: Pick-up by minibus and return transportation can preliminarily be offered from ISLK, LIS, Tunaskolan, Munspelets skola, Råbylundsskolan, Vårfruskolan and Järnåkraskolan. Pick-up on foot can be offered from Klostergårdsskolan and schools in the S Lars area. Families from other parts of Lund will need to drop off and pick up their children at S Lars Sportcenter.
Cost: The participation fee for the autumn semester is SEK 600, plus the Eos membership fee of SEK 400 for children who do not already participate in the club's basketball activities.

About the project
Knowledge is developed during school hours. Skills are developed in the afternoon.
This is how things work in many parts of the world. In Sweden, we have chosen a different model, where organized sports and other leisure activities mainly take place in the evenings. Coaches and activity leaders are generally parents or young people who are expected to volunteer alongside their regular work or studies. For children, participation is also often dependent on having parents who can organize transportation.
In many other countries, a much larger share of children's organized activities takes place in the afternoons, as part of the school day or school environment. IK Eos now wants to develop a model based on the same principle, but adapted to the conditions of Swedish sports clubs and non-profit associations.
In collaboration with Nordic Wellness, and thanks to a grant from Sparbanksstiftelsen Finn, we are launching Eos Skill School – a pilot project where children in Grade 3 will have the opportunity to take part in organized skill development directly after the school day ends.
Pick up your children at 5pm – trained and ready!
During the autumn semester of 2026, Eos Skill School will take place every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. Directly after the last lesson of the school day, Eos leaders will pick up the participating children, either by minibus or on foot, and take them to Nordic Wellness S:t Lars Sportcenter, where the activities will take place.
The afternoon will consist of two structured activity blocks, with a snack break (”mellanmål”) in between. The programme ends at 5 PM, after which children can be picked up by their guardians either at S:t Lars Sportcenter, or after transportation back to the schools where they were originally picked up.
With Eos Skill School, we want to offer children a stimulating and educational afternoon where they can develop confidence and new interests – while still having time to spend with their families in the evenings. The programme will be led by trained coaches and activity leaders from Eos, as well as from other organizations we collaborate with. The children will meet the same leaders week after week, creating safety, continuity and good opportunities to progress in the activities they take part in.
Just like a regular school, the programme will consist of different "subjects", organized as recurring activity blocks. Basketball will be one of them, but participants will also take part in other activities designed to develop social, mental and physical skills. All activities will be led by qualified leaders and repeated over time, rather than being offered as one-off try-out sessions. The full programme will be presented when Eos Skill School begins.
The pilot project is just the beginning.
The pilot programme during the autumn semester of 2026 will include 30 children.
But our ambition is much greater than that. We want Eos Skill School to mark the beginning of a new way of thinking about children's free time – where more children have the opportunity to develop their interests without being dependent on their parents having the time and resources to make it possible.
